Saints Sweep Montreat and Union at Vette City Volleyball Classic

(BOWLING GREEN, Ky.) – The Thomas More University women's volleyball team swept two matches today (Saturday, August 24, 2019) on the second day of the Vette City Volleyball Classic at Ephram White Gymnasium in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  The Saints defeated Montreat College and Union (Ky.) Colleg both by the score of 3-0.


  • Thomas More won the match by the scores of 25-10, 25-22 and 25-9.
  • Thomas More hit .324 as a team.
  • Sophomore right side Ashley Rees (Fort Wright, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) hit .583 with seven kills.
  • Senior middle hitter Jenna Mummert (Batavia, Ohio/Clermont Northeastern) hit .409 with 12 kills and four service aces.
  • Sophomore outside hitter Emily Mohs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) hit .379 with 14 kills.
  • Senior outside hitter Madison Krumpelman (Crestview Hills, Ky./Holy Cross) hit .400 with seven kills, 16 digs and three blocks.
  • Junior defensive specialist Jessica Ginn (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) recorded 15 digs.
  • Junior setter Madison Read (Hebron, Ky./St. Henry) finished the match with20 assists.
  • Sophomore setter Lizzie Schoenfeld (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had 14 assists.


  • The Saints defeated Union, 25-15, 25-15 and 25-18.
  • Mohs hit .486 with 18 kills and five digs.
  • First-year Sawyer Lorentz (Dover, Ohio/Dover) hit .500 with six kills.
  • Schoenfeld had 26 assists, two service aces and nine digs.
  • Read had 19 assists, two service aces and seven digs.
  • Krumpelman had 10 kills, two service aces and nine digs.
  • Ginn recorded 18 digs.
  • Senior defensive specialist Sara Crooker (Williamsburg, Ohio/McNicholas) had 10 digs.

  • Saints sophomore outside hitter Emily Mohs was named to the Vette City Classic All-Tournament Team.

  • Thomas More returns to the court on Wednesday (August 28) when it travels to Portsmouth, Ohio for it's first-ever Mid-South Conference match.
  • The Saints will play Shawnee State University at 7 p.m.
