Saints Remain Undefeated: Defeat Bluffton and #18 Ohio Northern

(BLUFFTON, Ohio) – The 23rd-ranked Thomas More women's volleyball team remained undefeated as it went 2-0 today (Friday, September 7, 2018) on the first day of the Bluffton University Spiketacular at the Sommer Center in Bluffton, Ohio.  The Saints defeated Bluffton, 3-1, and 18th-ranked Ohio Northern University, 3-0.


  • Thomas More (5-0) won the match by the scores of 25-16, 26-28, 25-14 and 26-4.
  • Senior setter Jenna Fessler (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) had 33 assists.
  • Junior middle hitter Jenna Mummert (Batavia, Ohio/Clermont Northeastern) tallied 13 kills and six blocks.
  • Junior outside hitter Madison Krumpelman (Crestview Hills, Ky./Holy Cross) finished the match with 14kills and 16 digs.
  • Sophomore setter Madison Read (Hebron, Ky./St. Henry) had 19 assists.
  • Sophomore defensive specialist Jessica Ginn (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) finished with 17 digs.
  • First-year middle hitter Julia Popova (Sofia, Bulgaria/Beechwood (Ky.)) registered 12 kills.
  • First-year outside hitter Emily Mohs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had 10 digs.
  • Junior outside hitter Alli Borders (Florence, Ky./Boone County) had six blocks.


  • The Saints swept the Polar Bears by the scores of 25-22, 25-16 and 29-27.
  • Second time in a week that Thomas More has defeated the nationally-ranked Polar Bears.
  • Mohs had 12 kills and four blocks.
  • Krumpelman had 11 kills and nine dibs.
  • Popova had 14 kills and five blocks.
  • Ginn had 18 digs.
  • Fessler recorded 21 assists.
  • Sophomore outside hitter Carlee Lambert (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) tallied 17 assists.
  • Mummert finished with four blocks.

  • Thomas More will close out the Spiketacular tomorrow (Saturday, September 8) when it plays Heidelberg University at 12 p.m. and DePauw University at 2 p.m.
