Saints Shutout Asbury, 1-0, to Remain Unbeaten at Home

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University women's soccer team blanked Asbury, 1-0, tonight (September 23, 2019) in the final game of the Saints' non-conference schedule at BB&T Field.

  • Junior defender Abby Hutcheson (Zanesville, Ohio/Rosecrans) headed in a corner kick from first-year defender Ryann Meddings (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) in the 23rd minute.

  • Thomas More improved to 7-3, while the Eagles fell to 1-7.
  • The Saints improved to 7-0 at home with six shutouts.
  • The Saints out-shot Asbury 21-1, with seven shots on goal.
  • Hutcheson's goal was her fourth of the season.
  • Meddings's assist was her team-best sixth of the season.
  • Shaye Isaacs (Nicholasville, Ky./West Jessamine) and Haley Dougherty (Dry Ridge, Ky./Simon Kenton) each had two shots on goal for the Saints.
  • First-year goalkeeper Skylin Yates (Dry Ridge, Ky./Simon Kenton) played all 90 minutes to earn the shutout.

  • The Saints will return to action on Monday, September 30 when they open Mid-South Conference play at No. 18 Cumberland (Tenn.) at 2 p.m.
