Saints Defeat Sewanee, 1-0, For First Win of the Season

(SEWANEE, Tenn.) – The Thomas More women's soccer team notched its first win of the season today (Saturday, September 15, 2018) as it defeated Sewanee - The University of the South, 1-0, at Puett Field in Sewanee, Tennessee.

  • Sophomore defender Abby Hutcheson (Zanesville, Ohio/Rosecrans) scored the lone goal of the match in the 50th minute off an assist by junior defender Gracie Kunkel (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day).

  • The Saints out-shot the Tigers, 4-3.
  • Junior goalkeeper Maddy Kim (California, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) earned the shutout victory as she played all 90 minutes and had one save.
  • First-year defender Jordan Harley (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) led the team in shots with two.

  • Thomas More returns to the pitch tomorrow when it will play Emory University at 2:30 p.m. in Sewanee, Tennessee.
