Women's Soccer Opens Season at Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More women's soccer team opens their season on the road the the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament Sept. 1-2. 


  • Thomas More will open their season vs. Ottebein on September 1, 2018 and vs. Baldwin Wallace on September 2, 2018 in the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament.
  • The match against Otterbein will kick off at 2:30 pm on Saturday and the match against Baldwin Wallace will start at 12:00 pm on Sunday.

  • Thomas More is led by a new coaching staff this season, Marquis Walker, who comes from Division I Canisius College.
  • There he led the team to the Big 4 Cup beating three other Division I teams.
  • Otterbein is coached by Brandon Koons, who is in his 20th season with the Cardinals.
  • He has led the Cardinals to eight Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) regular-season championships (2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014), five OAC Tournament titles (2004, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010) and six appearances in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament.
  • Baldwin Wallace is coached by Jim Wojtkun, who is in his second season with the Yellow Jackets.
  • Last season, he led his team to an 11-8-1 overall record, reaching the OAC Tournament.

  • Thomas More went 15-5-1 last season and 8-1 in the PAC. The Saints went on a seven-game win streak, beating teams like Hanover, Capital, Washington & Jefferson, and Grove City for the PAC Championship.
  • The Saints return leader in shot percentage and in the top-5 for assists, points, and goals, Olivia Nienaber. Hannah Dargo was also the top-5 for goals, points, and assists. 
  • The Saints reached the first round of the NCAA Tournament, falling in overtime to Wittenberg 3-2.
  • Thomas More welcomes 14 incoming first-years.

  • The Cardinals finished last season 13-4-2 overall, reaching the semifinals of the OAC Tournament where they fell to ONU 1-1, ONU advanced on PK's.
  • Went on a five-game win streak in the middle of the season, beating teams like Hiram, Manchester, and Centre.
  • The Cardinals welcome nine freshman to the squad this year.
  • The Yellow Jackets finished the season 11-8-1 last year. They had a six-game win streak, beating teams like Case Western Reserve, Defiance, and Marietta.
  • Reached the quarterfinals of the OAC Tournament, falling to Otterbein 3-0.
  • The Yellow Jackets welcome 14 freshman on the squad this season.

  • Thomas More will play its first home game of the season, hosting Capital at BB&T Field starting at 4:30pm.
