Thomas More Falls to Transylvania in HCLC Action

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University women's lacrosse team fell, 20-2, to Transylvania University today (Saturday, April 20, 2019) in a Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) match at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.  With the loss, the Saints fall to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in the HCLC and the Pioneers improve to 11-4 overall and 4-0 in the HCLC.

  • Transylvania scored at the 28:48 mark of the first half to take a 1-0 lead.
  • First-year attacker Katie Rice (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) scored unassisted at the 26:32 mark to tie the match at 1-1.
  • The Pioneers scored four unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead with 17:34 to play in the opening half.
  • Rice found the back of the net with 17:02 to play in the first half to cut the lead to 5-2.
  • Transylvania scored nine goals in the final 17 minutes of the first half to take a 14-2 lead at halftime.
  • The Pioneers scored six goals in the second half to post the 20-2 win.

  • Rice took five shots in the match, including three on-goal and had three ground balls, three draw controls and caused one turnover.
  • Junior defender Aleyna Heyman (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek) had five ground balls and caused one turnover.
  • First-year defender Katie Bryson (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East) tallied four ground balls and caused three turnovers.
  • First-year goalkeeper Kennedy Yurt (Louisville, Ky./Mercy) played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded 14 saves.

  • Thomas More returns to action on Wednesday (April 24) when it hosts Anderson University at 5 p.m. at BB&T Field.
