(PRESTONSBURG, Ky.) – The Thomas More women's golf team shot a school record 351 on Saturday (April 1, 2017) and is in fifth place after the first round of the University of Pikeville Spring Invitational at Stonecrest Golf Club in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
The Saints had two golfers in the Top-20 as sophomore Emily Armbrecht (Taylor Mill, Ky./Holy Cross) was tied for eighth with an 82 and sophomore Sara Jackie (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) is tied for 15th with an 84. Sophomore Christie Modafari (Mason, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) is tied for 27th with an 89, senior Emilie Mattei (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) is tied for 36th with a 96 and first-year Cora Bradford (Union, Ky./Ryle) is in 47th with a 115.
Thomas More had two golfers compete as individuals as junior Amber Greene (Catlettsburg, Ky./Fairview) and first-year Sophia Illokken (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) are tied for 44th with matching 104s.
Columbia College is leading the team championship with a 320 and the University of St. Francis' Marissa Singer leads the individual standings with a 73.
The tournament concludes on Sunday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
