(ANGOLA, Ind.) – The Thomas More College women's golf team finished fifth today (Friday, August 26, 2016) as it shot a 356 at the season-opening Trine University Kickoff Fall Classic at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
The Saints were led by sophomore Emily Armbrecht (Taylor Mill, Ky./Holy Cross), who finished tied for eighth with an 85. Sophomore Sara Jackie (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) joined in her in the Top-15 as she carded an 86 and finished tied for 11th.
Sophomore Christie Modafari (Mason, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) tied for 23rd with a 92, senior Emilie Mattei (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) placed 27th with a 93 and first-year Sophia Illokken (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) tied for 28th with a 95. Three Saints competed as individuals as first-year Cora Bradford (Union, Ky./Ryle) tied for 32nd with a 100, junior Bethany DeAtley (Muses Mills, Ky./Fleming County) placed 38th with a 106 and junior Amber Greene (Cattlettsburg, Ky./Fairview) tied for 39th with a 107.
Cleary University won the team championship with a 336, while the Cougar's Madison Smith won individual medalist honors with a 76.
Thomas More returns to the links on September 17 and 18 when it travels to Tiffin, Ohio to compete in the Heidelberg University Invitational at Mohawk Country Club.
