(GRANVILLE, Ohio) – The Thomas More College women's softball team went 1-1 on the day against Denison University, extending its overall record to 12-12, while Denison moved to 11-5 overall.
In the first game, the Saints won 1-0 scoring in the sixth inning. Andrea Gahan doubled to center, scoring Alix DeDreu. Gahan and DeDreu both went 2-3 at the plate for the Saints. Amanda Lloyd and Morgan Wells both went 1-3. DeDreu was on the mound for the Saints facing 25 batters, allowing only three hits for zero runs.
In the second game, the Saints fell 12-4 in five innings. Denison got on the board first scoring two in the first inning. The Saints took the lead after scoring all four of their runs in the third inning. DeDreu grounded out to second base, which advanced Laura Finke and scored Sydney Turner. Gahan singled to third base, scoring Finke and Mary Beth Odom homered to right center, scoring Gahan in the process. Denison would go on to score three more in the third, two in the fourth, and five in the fifth. Finke went 2-3 at the plate while Odom and Lloyd both went 1-3. Gahan and Sammy Sagers both went 1-2 at the plate. Hannah Sprague started on the mound for the Saints, facing 19 batters and allowing five runs on six hits. Dallis Knotts came in for Sprague, facing nine batters, giving up six runs on five hits. Lauren Willett ended the game for the Saints, facing four batters allowing one run on three hits.
The Saints will return home to continue PAC competition, hosting Washington & Jefferson on April 10. First pitch will be at 3:00 pm.
