    (NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.) – The No. 2 seed Thomas More College softball team split a pair of games today (Friday, May 6, 2016) on the first day of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament at Titan Field in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. The Saints fell 1-0 to No. 3 seed Saint Vincent College in the first game of the tournament, but defeated No. 1 seed Westminster College, 5-0, in the first elimination game of the tournament.

  • Thomas More Scores 30 Runs in Doubleheader Sweep at Chatham

    (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Thomas More College softball team scored 30 runs today (Sunday, April 17, 2016) as it swept Chatham University in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader at Varsity Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Saints won game one, 10-0, in five innings and the nightcap, 20-0, in five innings. With the sweep, the Saints improve to 25-7 overall and 10-2 in the PAC and the Cougars fall to 2-21 overall and 0-10 in the PAC. In the first game of the day, Thomas More scored five runs in the second, one in the fourth and four in the fifth and shutout Chatham for the 10-0 victory in in five innings. Senior pitcher Mamee Salzer (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) earned the win in the circle as she pitched four shutout innings and gave up two hits, while striking out two. Freshman pitcher Hannah Sprague (Bright, Ind./East Central) pitched one shutout inning of relief a struck out one. Thomas More had nine Saints have at least one hit in the game. The Saints were led at the plate by freshman right fielder Alix DeDreu (Rising Sun, Ind./Rising Sun), who was two-for-three with a triple and three runs batted-in and sophomore left fielder Dallis Knotts (Florence, Ky./Boone County), who was two-for-three with a run scored. In the nightcap, Thomas More scored five runs in the first, two in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth and nine in the fifth, while holding the Cougars scoreless for the 20-0 win in five innings. At the plate, sophomore center fielder Laura Finke (Fort Wright, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) was two-for-two with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Three other Saints had multiple hits in the game as senior shortstop/pitcher Ana Walter (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) was two-for-four with two runs scored, freshman third baseman Mary Beth Odom (Taylor Mill, Ky./Dixie Heights) was two-for-three with a double, a run scored and a RBI and Sprague was two-for-three with a run scored and a RBI. Knotts earned the win in the circle as she pitched two scoreless innings and gave up one hit, while striking out one. Sprague pitched two scoreless innings of relief and gave up one hit and struck out one. Walter pitched one-third of an inning and freshman pitcher Sarah Fellinger (North Bend, Ohio/Taylor) pitched two-thirds of an inning. Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (April 23) when it hosts Washington & Jefferson College in a PAC doubleheader at 1 p.m. at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
