(WASHINGTON, Pa.) – The Thomas More College men's tennis team fell, 5-4, to Washington & Jefferson College today (Saturday, March 31, 2018) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match in Washington, Pennsylvania.
With the loss, the Saints fall to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the PAC, while the Presidents improve to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the PAC with the win.
Thomas More trailed 1-2 after doubles play as the Saints' only win was an 8-2 win by the No. 2 tandem of first-year Jeffrey Schenk (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) and sophomore Sheldon Preisler (San Diego, Calif./Boone County (Ky.)).
The Saints won three of the six singles matches. Schenk won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, Preisler won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 and first-year Jared Haught (Edgewood, Ky./Covington Catholic) won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5.
Thomas More returns to action Wednesday (April 4) when it travels to Richmond, Indiana to play Earlham College. The match is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Richmond High School.
