Thomas More Blanks PAC Foe Bethany, 9-0

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College men's tennis team remained undefeated in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) today (Sunday, March 25, 2018) as it blanked Bethany College, 9-0, indoors at the Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 6-2 overall and 2-0, while the Bison fall to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the PAC.

The Saints led 3-0 after doubles play as the Saints swept all three matches.  The No. 1 tandem of junior Derrick Kwok (Sugar Land, Texas/Stephen F. Austin) and first-year Jared Haught (Edgewood, Ky./Covington Catholic) won 8-4, the No. 2 team of sophomore Sheldon Preisler (San Diego, Calif./Boone County (Ky.)) and first-year Jeffrey Schenk (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) won 8-0, and sophomore Logan Daniels (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton)  and first-year Brandon Kwok (Sugar Land, Texas/Stephen F. Austin) teamed to win 8-1 at No. 3.

Thomas More completed the sweep by winning all six singles matches.  Derrick Kwok won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1, Schenk won at No. 2 by the scores of 6-0, 6-4, Preisler won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, junior Michael Schwarz (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4, Haught won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and sophomore Wesley Smith (Versailles, Ky./Woodford County) won at No. 6 by the scores of 6-0, 6-0.

Thomas More returns to action on Thursday (March 29) when it travels to Springfield, Ohio for a 5 p.m. non-conference match with Wittenberg University.
