(GREENVILLE, Pa. (pacathletics.org) – The Thomas More College men's tennis program, led by fourth-year head coach Chris Eilerman, was selected as the favorite to claim the 2018 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Tennis Championship, according to the league's preseason coaches' poll, which was released Thursday.
The preseason poll collects votes from each of the conference's nine head coaches. Thomas More earned four first-place votes and finished with 76 total points in this year's poll.
The Saints won PAC titles at third and fourth singles and first and second doubles to earn the league's men's tennis championship last season at the Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie, Pennsylvania, finishing with 45 points in the nine-team flighted championship tournament. Thomas More trailed Grove City College 37-35 after the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds.
Eilerman was voted the league's Coach of the Year for helping the Saints collect their first-ever men's tennis championship and leading the program to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship.
The Saints fell in their spring season opener to Northern Kentucky on February 9. They return to action on February 24, traveling to Defiance. The match is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
