Men's Soccer Scores in Final Minutes for the Win

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - After a weather postponement for the men's soccer match against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, the Thomas More men's soccer team pulled out a victory in the final few minutes. Thomas More improved to 2-1-1 while Rose-Hulman dropped to 1-2 overall. 

  • Rose-Hulman got on the board first from a Thomas More own goal, giving the Fightin' Engineers the 1-0 lead. 
  • Pierce Turner headed in a goal for the Saints in the 48th minute with an assist from Bryce Day off a free kick. 
  • In the 81st minute of the game, Pat Louis booted in the game-winning goal from a free kick off a Rose-Hulman foul. 

  • With the win, the Saints improve to 2-1-1 overall. 
  • Senior goalkeeper, Jeff Paulin, recorded three saves in his 65-minutes in goal, including one diving save to keep Rose-Hulman from scoring.
  • First-year goalkeeper, Zach Combs, came in for Paulin and recorded one save off one shot attempt. 
  • Thomas More led the second-half in shots, 5-4, but trailed in the total, 9-8. 
  • Thomas More trailed in shots-on-goal, 5-4. 
  • Thomas More led in total saves, 4-2. 
  • Louis and Suli Kayed let the game in shots, each recording two including one shot on goal each. 
  • Day recorded the only assist in the game. 
  • Day, Colton Dolezal, Abou Diomande, and Turner each had one shot in the match.
  • Turner's only shot was for the game-tying goal. 

  • The Saints head back out on the road to face otterbein on Sept. 11 and Anderson Sept. 12.
  • The match against Otterbein is scheduled to start at 7:00pm.
  • The match against Anderson is scheduled to start at 5:00pm.
