(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University men's rugby team will compete in the National Small College Rugby Oranization (NSCRO) Men's 7s National Championship June 1-2, 2019 at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pennsylvania as part of the Penn Mutual College Rugby Championships (CRCs).
The Saints qualified for the national championship by defeating Northwestern, 14-5, on April 6 at the Oak Leaf 7s National Qualifier in Nashville, Tennessee.
On Saturday, each team will play three pool round matches on the Academy Field adjacent to the Stadium. On Sunday, NSCRO action moves inside the Stadium with the semifinals and final. The additional matches to determine third to eighth place finishers will be held on the outside field.
This year's national championship is loaded with both talent and experience as five teams are returning to the championship including the last four champions as New Mexico Highlands University (2015, 2016), Christendom College (2017), The Claremont Colleges (2018) return along with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Susquehanna University. Loyola University Maryland and the University of Denver join Thomas More as the newcomers to the national championship.
