Callahan Leads Saints to an 84-58 Win Over Emory and Henry

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Five Saints scoring in double-digits led the Thomas More men's basketball team to an 84-58 win over Emory & Henry College. The Saints fell to the Wasps in the opening game of the regular season, 72-65. With the win, the Saints improve to 6-4 overall as the Wasps drop to 7-3 overall.

  • Thomas More dominated the first-half, going on a 13-0 run sparked by an old fashioned three-pointer from Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky. / Campbell County), getting the layup and the free-throw.
  • Ryne Callahan (Morehead, Ky. / Rowan County) went into the locker room with double-digits, recording 12 points, and five rebounds in the first half. 
  • Ralph Stone (Shelbyville, Ky. / Martha Layne Collins) led the half, grabbing seven rebounds, along with eight points.
  • In the first-half alone, the Saints out shot the Wasps .548 to .357.
  • The Saints led by as much as 16 in the first-half, 25-9, with eight minutes to go. 
  • Thomas More went into the locker room up at the half 44-26. 


  • The Saints came out strong in the second-half, scoring the first seven points out of the gate. 
  • Callahan, who was named the Jimmy Johns Player of the Game, added 13 points in the second-half alone, along with two rebounds and going 3-4 from beyond the arc. 
  • Damion King (Winchester, Ky. / George Rogers Clark) put up seven points in the second-half, along with two rebounds adn one assist. 
  • The Saints out-shot the Wasps in the second half, .577 to .462.
  • The Saints led by as much as 30, for the largest lead of the game, with :40 seconds to go in the game. 

  • Callahan posted his season high, 25 total points tonight, along with seven rebounds and two assists. 
  • Callahan went 6-9 from beyond the arc, tying his individual game record from last season. 
  • Brandon Horne (Louisville, Ky. / Male) and King both put up 11 points on the Wasps, while Stone and Bertsch put up 10 each. 
  • Stone also added three assists, nine rebounds, one block, and one steal, as well as going 2-3 from three-point range. 
  • Horne added three assists, and seven rebounds. 
  • King totaled three assists and two rebounds. 
  • Bertsch put up one assist, one block, and one rebound. 
  • Kedan Davis (Newport, Ky. / Newport) led the bench scorers, putting up six points, going a perfect 2-2 from the field. 
  • The Saints had the advantage sooting .561 to .407 from the field and .545 to .400 from beyond the arc. 

  • The Saints go on a three-game road stand, taking on Olivet College on Dec. 15 for a 3 p.m. tip.
