(NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.) – Two Thomas More College athletes were honored by the PAC this week, being named Player of the Week. Sophomore Sheldon Preisler (San Diego, Calif. / Boone County (Ky.)) from men's tennis and sophomore Andrea Gahan (Cincinnati, Ohio / Oak Hills) from softball were named to the PAC honor roll.
Preisler rolled to a 4-0 record in the number three singles spot last week for Thomas More. He also partnered with Jeffrey Schenk to go 3-1 at number two doubles. Preisler is 12-1 this season (9-1 at third singles) and is a perfect 6-0 in league play. In Saturday's 5-4 win over Grove City, its first-ever win against the Wolverines, Preisler, and Schenk earned an 8-5 win over Jon Fleet and Damon Deck before he defeated Andrew Graber 6-2, 6-4 in singles action. The pair's only loss last week was an 8-5 setback against Mount St. Joseph last Thursday. They are also 6-0 against league counterparts.
Gahan helped the Saints post an 8-0 record last week. She hit .654 (17-of-26) with six home runs, two doubles and a triple while scoring 13 runs and driving in 12. She was also a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts. Gahan owned a .667 on-base percentage and 1.500 slugging percentage and also established a new Thomas More single-season home runs record with 14 in the team's first 32 games this season.
Men's tennis is scheduled to compete next on April 21 against Geneva and softball is scheduled for April 21 against Grove City.
