No. 12 Thomas More Shuts Out Wilson, 7-0, in Opening Game of NCAA Regional

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The 12th-ranked Thomas More University softball team shutout Wilson College, 7-0, today (Friday, May 10, 2019) in the opening day of the Crestview Hills, Kentucky Regional at Thomas More Field.  The Saints improve to 33-9 and the Phoenix fall to 27-7-2.

  • Thomas More took a 4-0 lead in the third inning as junior catcher Kenzi Dickerson (Union, Ky./Ryle) had a RBI single scoring senior catcher Alix DeDreu (Rising Sun, Ind./Rising Sun), first-year Elana Harrison (Mason, Ohio/Mason) hit a two-run double bring Dickerson and first-year pinch runner Taylor Peterson (Wilder, Ky./Campbell County) and Harrison scored on a RBI single by junior second baseman Sydney Turner (Harrison, Ohio/Harrison).
  • The Saints extended the lead to 6-0 in the fourth when junior second baseman Andrea Gahan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) hit a home run and then Dickerson had a homer.
  • Thomas More closed out the scoring in the fifth when DeDreu had a RBI single scoring senior third baseman Whitney Quillen (Dayton, Ky./Highlands) for the final score of 7-0.

  • DeDreu earned the win as she pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out nine.

  • Quillen was three-for-four with a double and a run scored.
  • DeDreu was two-for-four with a double, a RBI and a run scored.
  • Dickerson was two-for-four with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored.
  • Harrison was two-for-four with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored.
  • Gahan was one-for-four with a home run, a RBI and a run scored.

  • Thomas More will play SUNY Geneseo tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the winner's bracket final at Thomas More Field.
  • Saturday's game times for the Crestview Hills, Kentucky regional have been moved to 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
